Der Interviewer befragt Petzold über seine berufspolitische Position, was die Frage einer Begrenzung auf die drei anerkannten main-stream Verfahren und den Ausschluss der anderen Methoden anbelangt. Petzold führt aus, dass sie weder gerecht, noch rechtlich, noch klinisch zu rechtfertigen ist und gibt dafür gute Gründe. Er sieht hier den Missbrauch einer Definitionsmacht am Werk, der zu Lasten der PatientInnen geht und auf Dauer zu einer Verarmung des psychotherapeutischen Feldes führen wird, falls man die Situation nicht ändert.

Summary: „Gray hasn’t to be that bad” – an Interview with Hilarion Petzold on the situation of professional politics and psychotherapy in Germany
In the interview Petzold is asked on his position for professional politics concerning the recognition of only three main stream approaches and the exclusion of all the other methods. Petzold states on good grounds that this is neither just nor legally and clinically to justify. He sees here a misuse of pure power of definition on the costs of the patients which will lead in the long run to an impoverishment of the field of psychotherapy as a whole, if the situation is not changed.
