Summary: Method-Integrative Group Therapy for Patients with Chronic Primary Pain: A Conceptual Integration of Integrative Therapy with Modern Pain Concepts
Chronic Primary Pain (CPP) is a clinically relevant and therapeutically challenging condition. The present work connects Integrative Therapy (IT) and Modern Pain concepts (MPC) in a systematic and differentiation-sensitive manner and derives from this a conceptual and praxeological frame of reference. Methodologically, this is carried out within the framework of Differential Integration Theory, along specific integrators within the “Tree of Science.” The findings suggest that CPP can be understood as an embodied, learned, relational, neuroplastic, and modifiable process. Modern pain concepts place the reprocessing of the pain experience at the centre, whereas IT provides an experiential and method-integrative framework that incorporates body- and movement-oriented, creative, and nature-based methods. Within this framework, the group setting combines pain education, emotional processing, interpersonal work, resource activation, and transfer into everyday life. The paper positions itself as a starting point for clinical testing, manualization, and evaluation.
