Zusammenfassung:
Die vorliegende Arbeit vermittelt einen Einblick, wie die Internetnutzung (Chat und MUD) die Identitätsentwicklung von Jugendlichen unterstützen kann und zeigt die Relevanz für Pädagogik, Beratung und Psychotherapie mit Jugendlichen auf. Strukturmerkmale der Nutzung von Chat und MUD verändern und erweitern das Erleben u.a. von Raum, Zeit, Körper, Leib, die Bedeutung von Schrift und Sprache in der Postmoderne.
Theoretische Grundlagen zur Identitätsentwicklung und Interpretationsfolie für Praxisbeispiele bilden neuere Untersuchungen der Entwicklungspsychologie (Fend) und der Sozialisationsforschung (Hurrelmann), die Shell-Studien 2000 und 2002 sowie das Identitätskonzept der Integrativen Therapie (Petzold u.a.).

Summary:
This work gives an overview how the use of internet (Chat and MUD) can support the development of personal identity of adolescents. Over that it shows the relevance for pedagogics, counsel and psychotherapy with this group. Structural characteristics of the utilization of Chat and MUD change and extend the experience, among other things, of space, time, body, “Leib”, the signification of writing and speech in postmodern times.
Recent studies of development psychology (Fend) and socialisation research (Hurrelmann), the shell-studies 2000 and 2002 as well as the identity concept of Integrative Therapy (Petzold a.o.) serve as theoretical foundations for the development of personal identity and as foil to interpret the practical examples.
