Summary: The Co-respondence Model in Integrative Agogics (1978c)
The co-responde model as a core method for constituting meaning in integrative agogic and therapeutic approach is presented with its theoretical concepts. The anthropological and ideological background of the integrative approach, which sees itself as a „critical-humanistic“, meaning humaitarian form of therapy and agogics, is outlined.
1. Being is always co-being, being with others, existence is always coexistence and
2. Meaning is always meaning with others, i. e.consensus. Co-respondence is undertood as interpersonal encounter and exchange with the goal of constituting meaning as consensus and practice as cooperation, and be it the consensus that one has dissent. It is a form of discourse whose overarching goal is to ensure integrity for people, things, the environment, social groups. For this, the gestalt therapeutic concept of „awareness“ must be extended to „complex consciousness“, which perceives and reflects the historical, economic and ecological determinateness of man in his environment (context); and the Gestalt concept of responsibility / response-ability is extended to a „committed responsibility“ for the integrity of personal, social and ecological systems. The process of consensus through co-respondence is presented in its elements and in its course and is compared with other models of discourse. It contains four elements: the intersubjective constellation I (1) with the other (= you, we, group) (2), the context (3) and the topic (4). These elements work together in a sort of synergy along one „tetradic“ process, which is constructed in the same way as creative or problem solving processes. lt includes an initial-, action-, integration- and reorientation phase in which consensus and cooperation, theory and practice are connected and amalgamated.
