Summary: „Form“ and „Metamorphosis“ as ground-breaking concepts for Integrative Therapy with creative media – pathways of intermedial art therapy (1987k/1990b)
It has become rare in psychotherapy to deal with metatheoretical fundamental quests. Therefore a text – it has been a paper read to our art therapy congress 1985, published 1987 – is posted anew, a text which has undertaken to raise the questions concerning form and Gestalt, its emergence (morphogenesis) and the force, standing behind this (incentive/impuls/impetus[Petzold 2003e] – not drive sensu Freud). Forms, these „endless forms most beautiful and wonderful“ [Darwin 1859, 489-90] are ever changing. Why, how, where to? These basic questions have not been tackled by Gestalt Therapy, for me a reason to tackle them, another reason was to find some basis for the incentive to create (poiesis) in the approaches of creative therapy. Now 30 years later I rather would depart from issues of genetics and epigenetics or from neurobiology, but I would to have to come back to the very same questions, this text is dealing with and this is why it stays still an important contribution to the field of creative Therapies.
