Naturtherapien brauchen Supervision

Ulrike Mathias-Wiedemann, Hilarion G. Petzold (2020)

Summary: Nature Therapies need supervision (Mathias-Wiedemann, Petzold 2020)
The article explores in a compact form the question why the new nature therapies need supervision – just like any other form of psychosocial work with people. The field of nature therapies is young and has no supervisory tradition. The conventional supervisory schools mostly have no ecological references in theory building and methodology. How should they have sufficient field, diciplice specific and methodological skills to provide quality supervision? On the other hand, it is not enough just to be an „experienced“ animal-assisted therapist, garden therapist, forest therapist to do solid qualified supervision in this field. Double qualifications are the order of the day. You have to be a nature therapist and saddle up with regular supervision training. Then a good quality of supervision in the field of nature therapy and green care will be achievable in the future. Investments in Field Development is therefore needed.

Summary: supervision, nature therapies, quality assurance, double qualification, field and discipline specific competence
